More about Halne

Halne Fjellstova is a popular travel destination for hikers and skiers of all ages. Outdoor enthusiasts also enjoying hunting, fishing and snowkiting can comfortably base their stay from Halne, the perfect gateway to many outdoor adventures.

Halne Fjellstova is also popular for families with children, and senior travelers from around the world, whom can take advantage of the variety of activities offered in this area.

Lars Liseth built Halne Fjellstova in 1933, and together with his wife Birgit, ran the lodge. In the summer seasons, they also raised cattle there. The name, Halne, was used in that time to mean ‘halfways’. Because Halne Fjellstova is situated approximately halfway between Oslo and Bergen, the name was therefore chosen.

Halne Fjellstova has since that time remained in this same family, and has now been operated for over 40 years by Liv Liseth Vaksdal and Anders Vaksdal. The lodge continues today as a modern facility, offering lodging, a full service restaurant, an independent water power station, wireless network and conference/meeting facilities.
